Existence, life, world, universe, sun………

“Am I really alive?”
I touched the desk. What was I feeling? Wood. What’s wood? How did I know what I was touching was wood?
I sighed and tried to listen to the Marketing lecture. Marketing, what’s that, my mind prompted.
I was really irritated now. Vague questions were popping in and out of my head. You’re in a lecture, listen, said my mind. But the very mind was questioning my existence and reality.
What if everything’s a dream?

“Value creation for our customers,” continued the professor “is the most important thing in marketing.”
Customers!?
What are we buying? And value? Customers? Who’re they? Just another set of humans. We’re just unnoticeable specks in the universe, and we’re talking about creating value for them? My mind laughed at the very idea.
Do I exist? Or am I a dream? Whose dream? The world itself exists because we, the humans, created it.. we make everything that’s the world…otherwise would anyone know that there’s a world, a universe, of which we were a part?
Existence, life, world, universe, sun………

“Archana, you’re dozing off!”
I looked up. I looked around, stunned. I was in an Object Oriented Programming class. Marketing? I was studying nothing as of now that was even remotely connected to it. The lectures? The words “Value creation….most important….customers…” kept ringing in my mind.
Had I been dreaming? I was shocked.
Which was the dream, and which, reality?
Do I even exist??

The universe has a finite population in an infinite area. So, the average population of the universe is zero. Any person you meet is figment of your imagination. :)

Technically speaking you have thought about your existence, you think, that asserts your existence.

Well dream is jus a word given to a persistent process of a brain and that is, to think.

When you are awake & lost thinking, you call it day-dreaming or conceiving certain thought. The same happens when you are asleep, sub-conscious mind acts up.

What matters here most is not the state that drove you to the million dollar question, but the thought and the question itself.

Am I real, do I exist..?

If your existence is defined bcos somebdy can see and feel you, then.. if everybody in the world is devoid of senses would say, such a person does not exist at all. Meaning though you exist physically, you don't exist conceptually, Vani is not known.

But if your existence is proved by physical terms, adhering to space-time equation, you are another object..

So ironically physicality does not prove your existence but mere mental association in your mind as a thought does..You think therefore you are.. "Cogito ergo sum"..

:)

phi,
Thanks for the comment!!
'I think, therefore I am..' is beautiful....and i agree that the concept of physicality isn't a proof of existence...and it set me thinking: what happened when we were infants? were we aware of our existence, then, only by thinking of it? it's brillaint, if we did!
