Everything was dry, no life stirred. Everything was dried to the yellowness of the oppressive heat. Yellow and brown, no blue, no green. The sky was a tainted yellow with a huge, roaring ball of fire spewing out what seemed like abuses on every little object on the earth. Nothing which could move wanted to, for fear it’ll sweat itself out and crumble away like a dry leaf that was stepped on. Everything seemed lifeless; the sun had sucked life out of every one of them.
And then it happened. A drop of a magic potion fell on the earth. Everything sprung to life. The drooping plant shook off its brown-ness and woke up, stood tall and proud. The bird decided to clear its throat and sing, and others woke up to its music and applauded. The sun took off his fiery glance and instead gave a benign smile, present for warm comfort. A calm blue took over the sky, as the gentle sun looked on at all His subjects on earth coming back to life. Everything which could move now stretched itself and got ready to rejoice. The colours changed from brown and yellow to green, blue and red, purple blooms dotting around too. Everything became a celebration.
The magic potion of life, the potion called rain.

nice narration!!!
it would be great if the magic potion licks chennai's hot ground...

I used to take bath while raining during my college days!!!
But now I am sitting inside my cubicle and even not knowing it is rained today [;(]
had the magic potion been conserved, the lifeless scenario wudnt have happened :)
aama enna aachu? u havent been to chennai as yet..athukkulla ippadi oru post....... watz the inspiration for this :)
2005 was a bliss for many (in chennai) in terms of the amount of rain recieved (although it over rained)..hope 2006 too rains the same way
ever considered a career at National Geographic Channel .... for a moment there, i thought i was reading the opening script of some nature documentary .... but quite disappointed that u left out the rainbow .... after all it's the only bright spot when it rains on a sunny day .... personally i dislike rain on a sunny day especially a frontal rain ... somehow it feels worse after tat ... hot as well as humid rather than hot and dry .... i rather have torrents of rain in the evening thus painting the sky a nice even grey .... especially when u have a cup of hot cocoa in ur hands as u peer thru the window grills at the grey sky yonder .... *grin*
(p.s. how am i suppose to mail u my comments when i have no idea wat is your e-mail add ... and personally i feel the story could have been much better .... it comes off as rather amateurish ... yellowness ...brown-ness .... why did u left out good, ol' loch-ness since it seems like u are going for a certain theme here ... )
moody rain lifts curfew, everything back to normal..

The context of the blogger's local environment and the post seem to be in conflict. I cannot help but wonder what might have been the reason for such a post... Was the author thinking of her imminent return to chennai?
The author categorically proves that physically any one can be present anywhere, but their soul always rests in their home land :)
u could always hang out at citylink or the numerous underground linked malls at orchard ..... and u are telling me u dun have anywhere to go .... tat is unless u wanna follow the tourist circuit and visit the zoo or the botanic gardens or maybe sentosa ..... it's been ages since i last visited any of those places .... hell, i didn't even get to trod thru the esplanade yet .... hmmm, maybe should get some cheap tix for the upcoming musicals ......
Pfftt... it either pours or shines.. you can't get anything more than that. Boring..
bharadwaj,
romba yosichuta! it's a story of an artist who was in a dry land, which suddenly burst into life with magic.
rsubras,
whoa! :)
dante,
god, u're crapping away to glory! did you get drenched in the stupid rain here? :)
